An English Major Love to Cora Contrabida

(Our moderator advised us to remain calm about the latest issue of CruPub. However, I’m not tolerating this on my blog.)

Whoever you are I really understand your published art of sarcasm, however the article you’ve written didn’t really pass to justify a SATIRE.

(So let me give you the briefest review about it.)

A satire aims to expose the VICES, FOLLIES, or FLAWS of a person or group of people by making them ridiculous. It addresses solutions to social issues, and makes people laugh because of its humor (avoid offending them as much as possible). It includes critical thinking, must be backed up with careful research (statistics), and must possess a redeeming quality that shows the article’s objectivity.

Unfortunately, these elements are not found in your article. It is merely condemning. Just one sided. A satire does not need to be vicious. It can be driving and sharp, but the best is literate.

Are the blue plates really a MAJOR university (social) concern that needs solution?

I know that ATENISTA AKO MOVEMENT has been silent about this issue because we know better. Just so you know, we don’t just implement a project without careful planning and research. We are promoting Ignatian values and one of that, is Magis. The blue plates have been planned years ago. It is a product of its members’ creative minds and concerned hearts, that’s why its rationale passed the university’s standards.

I’ve been itching to write a more detailed public rebuttal, but I feel like it’s not necessary anymore. Glad that I’ve also found this:
